Aromatherapy :  How relevant is it to me?
Aromatherapy the powerfull healer for everyone and I mean everyone, From new Borns to the most senior members of our community. Each session is tailored exactly to your specific needs and wants .

So how & why does it work ?
Research has shown that when  applied to the skin or inhaled, essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream and metabolised by body, in a similar way to other substances. Many essential oils possess significant anti-microbial properties, in both liquid & vapour form. Clinical trials have shown that tea tree oil is highly effective in treating thrush. Another study has shown that aromatherapy massage with lavender oil was significantly more effective than both plain oil massage and a control group, in reducing heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and pain in patients in a hospital intensive care unit. There are many studies that .demonstrate how essential oils can positively affect mood and the sense of well-being. (Woolfson. A& Hetyitt, D (1992) Intensive Aromacare, International; Journal of Aromatherapy 4(2) pp. 12-13). Combined with massage, which has therapeutic effects ot all of the body's systems,

AROMATHERAPY IS A POWERFUL THERAPY.

So what are essential essences / oils
I like to think of them as the life source of a plant; An essential oil is an aromatic, volatile substance extracted from a single botanical source by distillation or expression. Essential oils have been utilised in fragrances and medicines for thousands of years. There are some 400 essential oils extracted from plants all over the world

So what happens when I attend an appointment with you Dawn?

You will be welcomed and made to feel at ease. This first consultation will be longer than subsequent sessions as I will ask detailed questions about your medical and lifestyle history. Most aromatherapy is done through massage so I  need to assess if this is appropriate for you. The consultation also helps me to select specific essential oils for you and provid the best treatment you will ever have experienced. Once the blend is created it is then tested to ensure the blend of oils is suitable.
I will then leave the room whilst you disrobe and lay down on the couch covering yourself with a towel (Please note I do not do any fully exposed treatments)
You are in control at all times and I am fully concentrating on your needs and requirements at all times. The time you are with me is YOUR TIME , You will never feel uncomfortable or be compromised in any way as only the area of the body being worked on will be uncovered

IS AROMATHERAPY SAFE?
Aromatherapy is quite safe when used correctly and professionally by your qualified and insured Aromatherapist such as myself. I am trained to work in the best way possible for you. Where appropriate I can also advise you how to use the oils at home, or make blends for home use to enhance your treatment
I’m currently visiting my GP, Do I need to inform them I’m receiving aromatherapy
As a member of the CNHC do get referrals from GPs, If you are currently receiving treatment or on medication from your doctor or a consultant then it is important to tell them of other forms of treatment you are receiving. I may wish to contact your GP, with your permission, or may require GP permission should I deem that the conditions requires this and to ensure that your GP is fully informed  that you are receiving aromatherapy treatments.
IF you are visiting any other therapist,  I require you to inform them that you are being treated by myself, not only out of professional courtesy,  but it may be inappropriate to combine the therapies and to work on too many different levels at one time. You could be wasting your time and money as will not know which therapy is actually improving your condition.

If you require more information than I have supplied on this page please do not hesitate to call me for an informal chat and I will answer any questions you may have.
